Climate Assessment: RNG is a Path to Positive Change

November 28, 2018

Many of you are probably aware of the recently released Fourth National Climate Assessment (Volume II) by the Global Change Research Program. There were over 1,000 contributors to the report, including 300 leading scientists and 13 federal agencies. The intent of this report was to analyze climate change and its impact on the United States, fulfilling requirements of the Global Change Research Act of 1990.

This recent release follows Volume 1 (Climate Science Special Report) that concluded there is “no convincing alternative explanation” for the changing climate other than “human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse gases”. This version provided numerous examples of just how climate change is affecting the United States, specific to the economy and lives.

You have a choice

No matter your position on climate change or political affiliation, research clearly demonstrates the negative impact Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions have on the environment. As a supplier to the transportation industry, we’d like to remind fleets that you can make a difference in climate change and air quality for future generations, without significantly impacting your fleet’s operating costs.

Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) reduces GHG emissions during production and in use as a transportation fuel. You’re not only reducing emissions in areas that your fleet uses RNG, but also for communities surrounding major landfills, agricultural facilities and wastewater treatment plants. It’s a win-win scenario that can in some cases, allow you to net clean the environment while moving necessary freight.

Unlike other emerging alternative fuels – RNG is available today, with proven vehicle technology and a large, nationwide station network. Because of the tremendous environmental characteristics of RNG, the government offers financial credits for use as well as grants to offset new vehicle purchases and station builds.

Let’s work together

If you’d like to understand how your fleet can do its part in reducing GHG emissions that are clearly impacting climate change – reach out. We can answer any questions you have and work toward a solution that fits your needs.
